As a child, Jesus was brought by Joseph and Mary to Jerusalem to present Him to the LORD (Luke 2:22) – and acknowledge that he belonged to God. Throughout His ministry, Jesus had people bring children to Him so He could lay His hands on them and bless them (Mark 10:13-16).
Christians recognize that everything we have belongs to God — our children belong to Him as well.
This dedication is not the salvation of the child, but is a public expression of the reality that they belong to Him. Through this act, parents prayerfully declare that their child does belong to God and commit to doing everything in their power to teach their child about God.
Our Child Dedications happen several times a year. Our next dedication will be Sun., Aug. 27 during the 10:30 service. To have your child be a part of this commitment ceremony please fill out the form here.
We are also in need of Baby Blankets for our Dedications!
And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name, welcomes me. Matthew 18:5
Handmade baby blankets are needed for our church baby dedications — quilted, embroidered, knitted, crocheted, sewn, etc. Soft baby colors, pink for girls/blue for boys, receiving blanket size (34"x46"), please.
As you are creating your blanket, please pray for the baby, the mother and father, the extended family and friends that will touch this baby’s life. We do not know which child will receive which blanket, but our Heavenly Father does. Drop blankets off at the BCC office or contact Cathy Zabel (563) 355-9439 or Connie Von Holdt (563) 355-7661.
